Paul Grushkin will be lecturing on ART OF MODERN ROCK at Ohio State Univ. on April 20, 2005, at 7:00 pm at the Conference Theater in the Ohio Union, on campus.

Mr. Grushkin is regarded as one of the country's top rock & roll historians and an accomplished speaker. His lecture encompasses two of his most well-known books: THE ART OF ROCK: POSTERS FROM PRESLEY TO PUNK (Abbeville Press, 1987, 1990) and ART OF MODERN ROCK: THE POSTER EXPLOSION (co-authored with Dennis King; Chronicle Books, 2004). These two books detail the entire history of rock & roll through concert posters.

The ART OF MODERN ROCK lecture presents over 500 of the finest graphics that have promoted live music events since 1954 and thru the present day, as interpreted by Mr. Grushkin's informed commentary.

Mr. Grushkin will be joined on stage by Mike Martin, the finest modern-era rock poster artist of the Midwest. Martin’s design studio, EngineHouse 13, is based in Columbus, OH.

The 492-page, 1,800 color plate ART OF MODERN ROCK became a nationwide best selling art book upon its November, 2004 publication. It depicts the modern-era explosion in rock poster making across the country, for well-known bands such as U2 and the Rolling Stones as well as hundreds of emergent alternative-rock bands, established jam bands, cutting-edge hip-hop groups, and hard rock and hardcore bands.
