The Buckeye List was created because we wanted to build a better and more functional portal for Columbus which included classified listings, restaurant and bar listings and reviews as well as golf course listings and reviews. We wanted to create a classified site that would allow users to rate each other so that they wouldn’t have to deal with people who are perennial shoppers only, or frequent appointment breakers. And we wanted a true user rated restaurant, bar, and golf course review.
After spending 6 years working on classifieds, I feel The Buckeye List might be better suited as a general list site.
What does this mean?
For instance, I have a list of favorite things, whether it's my favorite golf courses, my favorite restaurants or my favorite bars, I want to publish my list for others to read and experience. The vision is if you have a favorite place that's not listed, then you'll post it too. The Buckeye List is more or less a local review / critic site.

The Importance of Grass Root Sites
I personally feel it's impossible for a MSN, Yahoo, About, or Craigslist for that matter to create a site specifically for Ohio and Central Ohio when they're not involved in the community.Together we can build a relevant site for Columbus and the state of Ohio.
